Ahrens designed and constructed a hangar for servicing aircraft, as well as an associated two-storey office at the rear of the building.

The hangar has a column-free of 78 metres, providing 4,700m2 of clear space for the movement of aircraft and maintenance equipment.

The light-weight steel frame, which was fabricated by Ahrens in its local steel workshop, was pre-assembled on the ground, before being lifted and secured into place with two cranes. Ahrens completed the installation of the roof sheeting and the internal fit out of the hangar and offices.
