Ahrens designed and constructed the Freeling Agricultural, Recreation and Multi-Purpose ‘FARM’ Centre in a joint effort with Light Regional Council.

The highly-anticipated facility serves as a state-of-the-art sporting complex, gym and agricultural event space for the Freeling community and surrounding region.

Scope of works included a 2,115m2 steel framed building incorporating 1,369m2 of open space for sporting courts, or for use as a trades hall for conferences and events. Other works included a public membership gym; kitchen and cafeteria; training and meeting rooms; store room; and bathroom ammenities. External works included car parking and landscaping. Of particular note, was the installation of plastic flooring to support the ability for heavy machinery to be rolled into the centre during rural events. Ahrens also supplied all of the 43 tonnes of steel used in this project.
